All Penned Up - The Homestead Weekly Update
Good day everyone, thanks for coming back to check on us this first day of October. We definitely got some work taken care of this week, some tasks checked off the board. We got a new find on the side of the road(pressure washer in picture above)and cooler weather is definitely here.. Since today is the first day of October we are also starting a new family devotional book and we are so excited to see what’s in store for us.
Chain saw mill and yard clean up
To start this past week, Friday night R lit the fire pit with left over trimmings from the tree we felled back in July. He also got the 10ft rail set up in preparation to start milling some of larger logs, along with pulling out the largest log from the woods.
Consignment success
M did very well with the fall consignment! Sold just about 50% of what she put in and was able to stock up on the next sizes for the kids. It was such a blessing for us and her.
Duck pen
Major work was completed on the duck pen this past week. We got the enclosure walls complete, the old pen moved in, the pool relocated and they are very happy in their new place. R just about completed the door for the pen and once the meat chicken pen door is complete we put on the over head protection. Overall, a huge amount of progress was made!
Closest Swap
Yes it’s that dreaded time of year to start switching out closest. M has diligently been working on this over the course of the past week. I think she got a great system down this time around. Take a tote or two up from the basement and put them away instead of unloading the entire basement into 5 different rooms.
Jaidyin’s Bookshelf
I’ve kind of put this on hold till we get the pens done. Not that I wouldn’t love anything more then to be doing some good old fashion wood working the fact of the matter is theirs only enough time in a day and it’s just been so nice outside I’m trying to take advantage before the real cold weather sets in.
House and Meal Prepping
Well we are at the 5 week mark till the new baby is here, we are excited, I think M can’t wait and she’s in total nesting mode. She’s making quadruple meals so we can freeze them for later and we roasted another half pound of chestnuts. One of the boys really enjoys them a lot and all the kids enjoy going out and finding them.
Well that about wraps up this week, I’m not entirely sure what’s on the agenda this coming week other then finishing those pens. We will keep you posted and if you’re interested I’ve included a quick fix video for you viewing pleasure!
As always we are praying for you and your family’s and our nation and world. God Bless you all and have a wonderful weekend!
