Our Homesteading Story.
Richard and Melissa were married in September of 2017. We lived in a small 4 bedroom, 1 bath Cottage with a very small yard. We had 5 children at the time so space was tight. Resourcefulness and growing our own food is something we both wanted to pursue. We started small with a few raised garden beds and then we found out we were going to have another child. We needed an upgrade in just about all the ways possible, home, yard, space, van.
So in July of 2019 we started looking for a bigger space. After a week or two of searching we found our stepping stone home and property on the western side of Centeral PA. It was a true blessing! Just under 3 acres, enough room for us all, the house was recently remodeled in several area and you couldn’t beat this price. We started moving in mid Aug 2019. Did we say this house came with chickens, we have yet to buy eggs since moving here!
We always knew this is what we wanted to do, and we had some plans of what we wanted to do first. Covid 19 really put a realality check on us and we tried to over compsate in many areas. This lead to many failed projects and wasted time and money although, the learning experience was 10 fold. You know what they say, Hind sight is 20/20.
So here we are, progressing on, learning each day and now we would like to share our story, our knowledge and our learning experances so maybe we can help you not make the same mistakes we did.
