The Home Stretch - The Homestead Weekly Update
Good day and happy Friday everyone. It’s time for another homestead weekly update and we are so happy and glad to share all the things we accomplished this week. The temperature is perfect right now, you know in Pa we are in that 2-3 week stretch that you really can’t complain about the weather, cause it’s not really cold nor hot. You might need to pack all seasons of clothes though! Winter will be here soon and we have been preparing. Thank you so much for coming along on our journey. J’s Bedroom Update
J’s bedroom is just about done. We completed the bookshelf this week and he is so excited to have a place to put all his books and now has a place to display his art projects from school and other activities he has completed. He also got to pick out a walnut slab for his last shelf that goes above his desk. I have to say he picked a nice one!
Chickens and Ducks
The chickens and duck pens got an upgrade this past week. They now have fully functional doors!!!
We cobbled these doors together using left over wood from other projects we took down. I’m incredibly impressed with how strong the doors are. We used carriages bolts to connect them to the plastic skids and there is not much defection at all.
We also made a super simple automatic watering system for our meat chickens. Keeping them hydrated just got so much easier.
We also have some extra eggs we are looking to sell, if you want some farm fresh eggs please contact us and we will set some aside.
Rabbit Manure
We have some 50 - 60lbs bags of rabbit manure unsifted ready to go. $5 a bag and we could get more. The rabbits have been producing a lot this year! If you want some please contact us.
Build your own birdhouse kits
We are also taking orders for our very own build your own bird house kits.
Each kit costs $10 plus shipping and for additional $5 we can personalize them for you.
These kits are made from pine or hardwood and I have started preparing the wood to start making as many kits as I can. It’s a great way to use up smaller logs
We have sold several on Etsy before and if you would like to be first in line before putting them back up on there, give us a shout and we will add you to the list. They are kid friendly and come with pictures instructions.
Blessing from God and our Church Family
I don’t know the best way to put this. M and her side of the family has been a great blessing to R. God has an amazing way to reel you back in. This is true for both of us, as the world around us is always pulling us away. Maybe 1 day we will put our testimony up here but for now God and our church family is so wonderful. We got a special delivery this past week and completely shocked us. We couldn’t thank God or them enough and we are truly grateful to be following God path now and teaching our children his way of everlasting life through Jesus. Thank you God, thank you Jesus and thank you to all our church family!
Well this pretty much wraps up most of the events for this past week. We have been going straight for over a month doing daily family devotionals and our family is learning so much. Our kids are keeping us honest and ensure they don’t get passed by. They truly are a blessing!
